I’ve been surfing in the internet lately but have just recently discovered another affiliate program called AGLOCO. I found it on The Pinoy Money Talk and because of my curiosity I tried to know what it’s all about. Do you know the word ponzi? Or how is it synonymous with scam or pyramid scam? It was about an Italian immigrant who settled in the US and made his illegal activities there. So much for that.

This affiliate program has been being talked about in the internet since last year. AGLOCO has launched their program which was advertised to be the Internet’s first Economic Network, which will make use of the power of the Internet-based social networks to “directly benefit the Members who help to create the community”.

AGLOCO’s (A Global Community) founders saw an enormous potential in the social networks like YouTube, MySpace and Facebook. All those potential customers made advertisers extremely interested. If the surfers build the community, then it’s fair enough for them to have a portion of the advertising revenue that they are generating. Share the profit.

When I was still in my elementary years, I always dream of having a magic box that will produce money. But I know that it is impossible and just a dream. Profit is always the main objective in any business, particularly an online business. One of the first Filipino online stores is Kabayan Central.Com which is co-owned by Armin Santiaguel that sells tagalog videos, OPM CD, Filipino books, e-Load and other Philippine source products. It was started in 1998 when most of the big time players on the internet now were still rising.

Like most internet entrepreneur, it allows them to start on a minimal investment and inventory and small overhead expenses. Way back then it cost about US$70+ to register on a domain for two years and they registered www.kabayancentral.com for their first online store. Armin and his group work on building their dream, the two worked on programming, one on handling merchant account. Since those days there were no internet merchant accounts available locally, you have to have a US bank account to apply for one.

Their initial plan is to have a local counter part of amazon.com which only sells books that time. But they include CDs in their planned inventory for local artists. Since it’s not so easy to persuade local publishers to post their books in their online store even it is for free, they have turned their attention to recording. Luckily there were recording companies who responded to them: Viva, Sony and Vicor Records. They have also discovered that people were more interested in music that in books and again, with the stroke of luck found a distributor who have access to all the labels.

Ricky was already running Manila ice Cream Company for two years catering to restaurants, kiddie parties and other events when he acquired Milkin Corporation. He also graduated from the Carpigiani Gelato Ice Cream University in Winston, Salem, in North Carolina. As soon as he took over the helm, we mapped out a 10 year program where he saw franchising in the first five years and becoming a leading provider of quality ice cream and catering services in the next five.
