I was thinking that discussing about SEO is not necessary in this blog because this topic is all over the internet. There are many gurus that teach SEO and technically experienced but there is no harm to make my own version of this topic. So what is SEO? This is an abbreviation of ‘Search Engine Optimization’. So again what is it? It’s how to make your websites loved by search engines like Yahoo! and Google search. Search engine optimization is one of the most important things to do to gather visitors to your websites. Without visitors your website has no use because the only purpose for a website is for someone to visit it. This is how you will make business. It’s like setting up a retail store. You want to build it in a commercial place where people flock. With out people, there will be no business. The same thing as in a website no visitors, no business.

It is a fact that there are many ways to gather traffic like promoting it by visiting forums, advertise it in a magazine or news papers or media. But visitors coming from search engines are more targeted (potential customers) compared to any other type of visitors. Again, comparing it to an offline business it separates the spectators from buyers. Those visitors form search engine are more aggressive because they are looking for something that they want. Unlike those who are just surfing around from other websites and then will click and follow your link or to those repeat or loyal visitors. The same thing in online advertising. Visitors coming from search engines have more value in ‘Click Thru Rate’ than those coming form other sources.

So how to do it? My explanation is just an overview because there are many factors to consider to make your website well optimized. One very basic rule is to exchange links to other websites specially to a high page rank websites. And if it easy for you to do this, ask other website owners to give your website a one way link and using anchor links of your chosen keywords. This will enhance you page ranking in search engines. What is page rank? It is a rank given to websites for it to appear on any given search query. Why it is important? It will make your site appear on the first page or if not near the first page when some one queries the search engine on a particular keyword search. Then the second one it to tweak your website to have keywords that people are searching. It’s useless, if for example your rank well on a keyword “nasty widgets” but nobody is searching for it.
