Why Do Businesses Need Outsourcing?

June 20th, 2007 Lito

BPOIn today’s changing world, many privileges that an employee gets from the company are slowly diminishing. Like for example an employee that will stick to his or her employer until retirement. This is because of the very competitive nature of our business today; many companies are trying to eliminate their most loyal employees just because of cost reduction. And the most merciful thing that an employer can do is the ‘Golden Handshake’. So many companies turn to outsourcing the jobs to reduce cost. And now we go to the question “How Much is Enough?” and the rich man will say, “Just a little bit more.” ( Greedy, huh? )

One of the most obvious reasons for outsourcing is to access expertise, equipment and experience not available in house or sometimes employer’s kicks-the-butt of those highly paid seniors and be replaced by an outsourcing workforce. Employers indeed save a lot of money and allow the product or services to command a more competitive price thus increasing the sales and productivity. The value of outsourcing is that it can help a business focus on the core area of the business while support will be handled by an outsider.

So we can say that outsourcing is a management strategy to restructure an organization to make it more competitive and dynamic. Because whether we accept it or not the days are numbered that an employer trains and motivates his own employees to make his organization healthy. And this outsourcing trend makes me think, what will happen if every company in the world will totally depend on other companies on outsourcing their jobs? I’m sure there is a side effect of some kind. :(
