If you will look in the Oxford dictionary, the definition of FEAR is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. and this is where most people are trapped thinking that entrepreneurship is something that they should be afraid of. Risking everything in exchange of a comfortable life in employment thinking that being employed is the safest thing in the world and the so called security of tenure. But may I ask, what if someday you are terminated or the company closed down? the only thing you will get is a separation pay or some financial assistance.
So looking at a different angle, we can say that FEAR is just False Education Appearing Real. It has became a mindset to most people that after graduating in college you should get a good job. It is always job and never having an entrepreneur mindset that after schooling you start a business. People will most of the time scorn of an idea of having “this or that” for a business.
Going back in history, Henry Ford understood this well. When he wanted to mass produce the automobile in the 1900′s people told him he was crazy. At the time no one ever imagined that someday everybody could afford and be driving an automobile. Henry Ford did. Good thing he didn’t listen to everyone who told him he was crazy.
So for us to be successful, we should be careful on other people’s opinions and look in ourselves and intuition as a final decision maker. This is one of the secrets of a successful entrepreneur, they always listen to themselves above everyone else’s opinion.
