Its interesting to know that despite the U.S. recession, the Philippines is taking advantage of the cheaper labor cost. Comparing labor cost in the U.S., one job there is equal to 4 or 5 jobs here with regards to pay. So companies there are seeking to cut down expenses by outsourcing to cheaper labor cost. That is why just last week when I bought a newspaper, The Manila Bulletin, on the classified ads section there were lots of call center jobs available despite of the crisis. Although this is good to our economy, I still pray that the recession will soon be over because in the long run our economy will be affected too because this is a global crisis.

Yay for the Phillipines! Actually, you’re right… the trend here in Hawaii is that Filipino workers are being hired because their willingness for a pay-cut. Other wise Filipino entrepreneurs supply a service where there is a growing demand and a little supply… Just look at the Care-Home industry, the Filipino entrepreneurs are making a lot of money because they are willing to take care of older people… and it only comes naturally since that is part of our culture.
Now if we can only get them to be a little LESS ambitious!
