Almost Daily Niche: Hair Restoration

This niche is definitely unbelievable because of the very high PPC value. It is very obvious that many people needs hair restoration and mostly I assume that men are those who really need it. Based on the Google trend, the geographical location of those top searchers are from United States then followed by Ireland, Canada, India, Australia and United Kingdom. Climate is really a big factor why people are getting bald and maybe other factors are diet and genetics.

If you happen to think of a niche you want to get interested to or if maybe this niche is one of those you are interested in, then this is good opportunity to start. This niche is favorable to the geographical places I mentioned above and I think will not be a good decision if you will have a business here in the Philippines. But on the contrary, since the cost here is cheaper, many foreigners are traveling here to avail cheaper health care. A good idea is, if you want to set up and online business and targets those location, then I assume it will have a good chance. For example, having a blog with this niche, having a website that sells herbal products for bald men or medical tourism.

WIGO – Monetizing WiFi Business Ideas

wigoFree WiFi access are already available few years ago in the Philippines and as far as I know,  some well known commercial areas and food establishments are equipped. I’m not sure wherelse can you find a hot spot beside those I mentioned because I don’t travel much. But have you ever wondered why it is free? I can only think the reason for it is for people who have their own laptop with wireless network access capability to go to the hotspots like a coffee shop. So when people are attracted to go to that place, chances are they will also be a customer. Nice strategy for promoting a business. But there is a downside, I think. What if the establishment who provide free wifi access can’t keep up the cost? The more users it has, the more bandwidth it cosumes and that means more money to pay to a dsl broadband provider.

So the solution to keep up the cost is for the free wifi access to have an income of it’s own. But since it is free, then how do you suppose to make people pay for it? So the solution is monetizing the wifi. I learned about a local company here in the Philippines who monetize free wifi access by providing advertisements on the browser.  The company is WIGO. All you have to do is go to their website, register and download a toolbar program and install it on your laptop. The bottom of your laptop screen will have a banner for advertisers which are the ones paying for the free wifi access. Very nice business idea isn’t it? Eventhough the cost of wireless broadband is going down because of competition, it can still burn a hole in our pocket. And besides, nothing beats a free broadband internet access! :)

Adsense Deluxe Plugin for WordPress 2.8.1 and Up

The latest WordPress update have many bugs fixed and tighten securities on administration pages. Now many blogger who have their blogs setup using WordPress will be more confident and secure specially on using plugins where the source is not really known to be credible. But lately there was a problem on some plugins we are using that have no latest update. Specially the Adsense Deluxe WordPress plugin where the author have not made an update since 2006. Maybe the guy lost interest on this precious plugin. I can’t think of a good reason rather than having lack of user support (donation) because the plugin is free, I think there will be no initiative for users to pay it. So I think it will take a longer time or maybe no update at all for those who wants to use it.

But for those bloggers out there who are still using this plugin, I know the value of this because not only can you use it on Adsense, you also use this on any advertising network for displaying ads on your blogs. After I updated my wordpress to version 2.8.1, I have encountered a bug on this plugin. What happened is I can’t access the Adsense deluxe administration page and only saw a blank page with this message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page” so I can’t edit nor see what’s happening in there. I thought someone already hacked my administration page and fear that some malicious code had been running again so I made some research. Thanks to this site that I discovered that you only need to replace a variable called hook in PHP. Many plugin used  admin_init instead of admin_menu inside the plugin code. In the case of adsense deluxe, the hook used is admin_head that should be replaced by admin_menu. So to make it work, first thing to do is disable the adsense deluxe plugin. Maybe I need no explanation on this part if you are a WordPress user. Then open up your FTP program and go to the plugins directory and transfer the file adsense-deluxe.php from the subdiretory adsense-deluxe_wp_plugin_v0.8 to the plugins directory. Success Story of Toby’s Sports

tobys_logoWho wouldn’t recognize the leading sporting accessories and apparel store chains in the Philippines? Many years back, I remember it has a small store in Greenhills Shopping Center back in 1982. That time I was only 13 years old and little that I know the real story behind it. I’m not a sports buff so it’s impossible to think that I will visit Toby’s but what attracted me to that store are those  radio controlled airplanes and accessories that time. I remember those days when I begged my uncle to buy me a propeller driven F-16 fighter jet kit made from balsa wood which I assembled myself. And my only way of learning how to build and cover it by monokote it is by reading R/C model airplane magazines and books. Sad to say, I never had a chance to fly it because I was afraid I might crashed it. I was only a beginner in that hobby those days. I remember I also bought model engines for that plane, monokote and a 4 channel radio control set. Later I learned that I need to fly a model trainer aircraft before flying a faster airplane like that F-16. So I bought a J-3 Cub model plane kit from Toby’s but again I can’t fly it because it was a scale model airplane. Scale model airplanes are for expert flyers and not for a beginner. To know more about why it’s difficult, just visit here. OMG! that hobby is really getting on my nerves! In the end those two planes I build just became an expensive litter. After I bought a third trainer model aircraft from an expert trainer who also taught me how to fly, I attempted to fly it on my own and crashed.

So much for that story. Maybe I shouldn’t have written that experience because Toby’s Sports only specialize on sports gears and apparel and have not continued to sell model planes and accessories. But at least many people will know that aside from the Mickey Mouse and other Disney merchandise Toby’s Sports were selling on it’s early days, they have also tried to sell R/C airplanes. There was a good article I read in Masigasig Magazine about Mr. Roberto ‘Bobby” Claudio, the founder of Toby’s retail chain. Although the article seems like a promotion of Globe telecom for endorsing the IOS (Inventory Ordering System), at least it was an inspiring one. The success story begins when Mr. Roberto Claudio was still an employee of Unilever and was very active in Junior Jaycees and was asked to take charge of World Jaycees Congress on his fifth year. Then later he resigned and devoted his time in the Jaycees.

PTTC FREE SEMINARS on July17 to 18, 2009

I think this is a good opportunity for those who are interested in aquiring skills by attending a free seminar. This was made possible by DTI-CLEEP (Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program), a priority program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

To a displaced worker or unemployed individual who cannot afford the cost of attending a seminar like this, then this is the right time to grab the opportunity. For those who were not familiar with PTTC or haven’t been there , it is located on Roxas Boulevard corner Gil Puyat avenue (Click here to see the map). I already attended two seminars already sponsored by the company I worked with few years ago. I remember I took ISO 9000: Quality Management System Series 2000 and Internal Quality Audit which is great because it includes lunch and snacks along with a good quality of teaching. I’m not sure if the free seminar will include snacks, please contact them for details (see bottom of this post for contact details).

Almost Daily Niche: Traffic School

Traffic school are likely to be an offline business because this business needs a hands-on training where the student needs to drive a real car. Unlike an online degree where the students can learn via online. If you are planning to set-up a traffic school business, then I think this is lucrative based on the high PPC bid. Are you planning to make a blog or a website with this niche? then this might be a good idea.
