Since blogging became popular, many flocked into this hype and some bloggers post I’ve read said that even their pet dog has a blog. I guess what he is trying to say is how simple it is to set up a blog. I don’t disagree with that if only setting up a simple free blog like Blogger.Com and no complicated SEO strategies, social networking, installation of software and setting up a domain name and webhosting are involved. I can describe it to be as simple as making a Microsoft Word document. But if you want to be serious as a Problogger, you need more skills and knowledge than just setting up a blog which I think a business owner will have an option if he wants to be a Problogger or just a blogger for his brick and mortar or even an online business.
But why is it that business owners need to have a blog too? Blogging seems a perfect fit for a business owner and I can enumerate them as follows: [click to continue...]

Technology will be with us until the end of this world and no one can deny it’s existance even if you live under a rock for decades. Since the arrival of the internet age, I guess technology is now fast paced unlike before when it still doesn’t exist. Maybe this is what the bible says about “People will go here and there to increase knowledge”. Yes the medium of transportation helped a lot on the exchange of information (e.g. jet planes and bullet trains) that allow people to travel on distant places in a short period of time. But compared with the internet, the collaboration between people on all parts of the globe makes it possible to do things not possible without this technology. The realtime lightning speed of the internet with the latest hightech software makes those things possible.
Another effect of this technology is the changes in distribution of wealth. I guess everyone knows about the term middle class, the rich and the poor that makes up a society with regards to wealth. The rich class are those billionaires and millionares, most of them employers and owners of corporations. The other one is the poor class and those are the ordinary workers, the jobless, low earning self-employed individuals and even the ordinary staff of a company that don’t belong to the management. And the middle-class are those that earns above the poor class and below the rich class. They are the supervisors and managers of a company and possibly self-employed or small business owners that earns above the poor class. One of the effects is that technology and the web can create billionaires in a short period of time regardsless of age like the founder of facebook and Google.

Heard about a 25 hour service restaurant? I’m not sure if I remember it correctly but when I was in my younger years I think I for once I tried to eat on that restaurant but I don’t remember that it has a 25 hour service. Since there are only 24 hours in a day, I think it was only marketing gimmick to tell people that their service is worth more than just 24 hours in a day. As the title of this post say, the restaurant is named Goodah!!! But, have you thought that this restaurant have it’s original owners or founders till the present time? The answer is no. Since it went to difficult times, the owner was forced to sell it and it was said that only brand name has set a strong positive impact on people’s mind. In fact, there was a movie titled GoodAh!!! by the famous trio comedian Tito, Vic and Joey.
The company was sold to Mr. Jose Antonio “Che” Soler, President of Del Sol Foods Inc. and despite that his existing business is not related to food chains, he invested on a restaurant called GoodAh!!! that popularized the hot and quickly served Filipino food to a new level like goto and arroz caldo (ox tripe gruel and chicken gruel), silog (fried rice and fried egg) and Tapsilog (beef tapa with fried rice and fried egg).

When I was just starting to blog, I was thinking of a kind of niche that I’m intertested in and that is entrepreneurship. Why? it’s because this is the only way I know to get the freedom that I want. No, I don’t mean that I’ll be totally free from work, what I only mean to say is freedom to make my own decision. Maybe the phrase “being your own boss” makes an entrepreneur free to make his own decision and not hanging around and consulting his boss all the time.
I think there is no need for me to talk about my days when I was still in the corporate world, working there and slaving myself. It’s true that I envy those managers who take all the privilages which includes nice fat salary and having their own cars but in exchange to that they have to kiss the “big boss’s” ass all the time. That is why I never aspired to be a manager. I was contented being a staff because I know deep inside that even if I have a high position in a company and enjoying all the authority and money, I would still leave it any moment (e.g. retrenchment, retirement or simply being fired). But being an entrepreneur will serve me for a lifetime even if I don’t earn as much as a corporate executive.
