When you say home business, obviously the thing that went to our minds is a business done at home. There are lots of home business ideas you can think of and you can search the internet for ideas. Home business is not new and in fact most Filipinos who started their businesses at home became big businesses today. One example is Red Ribbon bakeshop. I remember my wife when she told me about how Red Ribbon bakeshop started. She knew that because she worked there when she was still single, a couple of years before we came to know each other. It actually started as a hobby and the owner used to bake cakes as a gift to friends and relatives and tied it down with red ribbon. So that is where the name of the bakeshop came from.
Traditional home business are vendors who sold kakanin (native delicaies) like suman, bibingka or cuchinta and other street foods which are usually made at home. You can also produce home made laundry detergents, dishwashing liquid, process meat products, novelty crafts and other things limited only by your imagination. So how about online home businesses opportunities? are they available in the Philippines? if internet was not invented, then chances are we won’t be able to dive in this opportunity. Although not too many Filipinos are aware of it, those who have a chance to harness this technology can earn by selling online like in eBay for example. Some create there own ecommerce websites selling goods like Divisoria.Com and PinoyDelikasi.Com. If not there own products, website owners join affiliate networks selling other peoples products and earn by commision. Others sell their services as freelancers doing article writing, programming, website designers and graphics designers.

I accidentally discovered the misspelled keyword
“Facaebook” when I was typing the word
“Facebook” on Google search. Many bogus sites appeared on the search list but little that I know that this keyword was also being used by other people according to Google Insights for Search as you can see below, and the geographical location were Turkey, Colombia, Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France and United States.
Just staring at my keyboard, I ask myself how in the world will I have a misspelling like that? the letter “A” was far from the letter “E” if I will consider it as a typo. I just assume that it might be just a flicker of my fingers.

Paypal Philippines have updated their feature and you can now send money in Philippine pesos. Unlike before that the only possible option is by using dollar currency. Yes there are other currencies available but most of the time we give our prices in dollars if the payment is by paypal even though the customer is local. So what is the advantages of having this new feature? The most obvious is we don’t have to convert to other denomination when we transact locally. No dollar to peso exchange rate headaches that sometimes we loose if the exchange rate fluctuates.
To test drive the new feature, just log in to your Paypal account and click the send money button. Then on the amount scroll to the currencies available (see below):

I wish I bought Smart Bro prepaid last month (for emergency purposes) since Smart Philippines lowered the price to Php 995 . When Typhoon Ondoy hit our country my PLDT landline lost it’s dial tone but only lasted 2 days so I never bothered buying Smart Bro. But just last month when Tyhoon Santi hit Luzon, I wasn’t lucky enough because up to now our phone line is still not working. So having a back-up broadband connection is essential. Now the question is why choose Smart Bro and not Globe Tattoo or Sun Cellular? I was hesitant at first if I will choose other brand of prepaid wireless broadband. Since I already tried Smart Bro prepaid from a friend when I fixed their computer and was very satisfied with the speed (and they live near our residence. If they live on other place, I will not be sure if there is a 3G signal in our area), I was decided to buy it.
I also checked the speed of Smart Bro on speedtest.net and below is the result:

Profit is the most important for a business to survive because with it, there is no reason for setting up a business. But likewise, profit alone with out determining how big or how small cannot be a measure of financial performance. For example, a net profit of Php 200,000 is not good if your investment is Php 5 million. The return of investment (ROI) will only be 4%. But if the investment is Php 1 million for a net profit of 200k, then that is remarkable with a ROI of 20%.
So with those facts you need a strategy to help you achieve the highest possible ROI. There are three indicators for determining the ROI and those are: Profit Margin, Productivity and Financial Leverage. Multiplying those three indicators and multiplying it again by 100 you will get the percentage of ROI.
