Again I want to greet you a prosperous new year this 2010. I should have posted this training schedule from TRC a week ago if not for the phone line and DSL interruption I’m experiencing. I don’t know why it is happening frequently. I was thankful it lasted only 4 days unlike last November where it lasted 2 weeks! Maybe due to my persistence calling the pldt customer support everyday that is why I didn’t experience months of no phone service like others are complaining. Thanks to my Smart sim where I can call them on 171 free of charge.
So much for that, now to the topic. What I got from TRC below are training schedule for this month of January 2010 and I noticed there is a new course they are offering and that is ”Perfumes and Colognes”. Maybe this blog gave them an idea to add this course because there are comments I got asking for a perfume making course. Hello! I want to put up a travel agency but don’t know how to start. Thanks to your blog on TLRC sched maybe I could learn a lot from them. One question though, is it a lucrative business? Can I really earn from home? Thanks!
Good day!
Would like to know if you will still offer seminars on candle making? I’ve browsed through your past months offerings and did not see any. If you will no longer offer it, any referrals as to an alternative venue will be greatly appreciated.
Regards and Happy New Year!
@Rachel
Yes there is a course called “Aromatic and Decorative Candle Making” offered last year from August 2009 to October 2009. Just wait for the coming months. And with regards to other training center, there is a free training available in PTTC last year and they are offering it monthly. I’m not sure if it is still available this year. I’ll check again on their website.
@rosslyn tadeo
Is it lucrative? I think the only people who can answer that are the travel agency owners themselves. Try to ask people in travel agencies.But if you are observant, there are many travel agencies sprouting and they are still there. Maybe it is lucrative.

@Jun Capiz

It was scheduled last year on April 2009, May 2009, July 2009, October 2009, November 2009. Maybe this year they will have it again on April 2010. Just Visit this site often or subscribe on my Post Alert by Email on the upper right sidebar of this blog to keep you updated on my post.
Hi Im planning to put up a travel agency and I wanna know the schedule for February? Thanks
@Katrina
Sorry the schedule for February 2010 will be released on the last week of this month based on their past releases. Just wait for it.
Dear Manuel,
I am about to start my hardware business now, this Jan. 2010, in fact construction my store is already finished. I am now in the process of securing licences and permits. Everything’s been set up, except that up to now I still don’t know where to find the correct sources of merchandise. I made some inquiries but what Ive got are still not the wholesale prices that I am looking for. The prices are way too up compared to the wholesale prices. Could you help me please on this one, if you have any ideas as to the names or addresses or wholesalers, dealers or distributors of construction supplies, could you please forward them to me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Jun
@Jun Capiz
I thought you were just planning to have a hardware store that is why you are inquiring about the training. Anyway regarding the sources, It’s been a long time since I was involved in a hardware business. That was our family business then and suppliers were already there. My uncle was the one who was managing the store because my father have a foundry shop in Valenzuela. That was long ago and they don’t exist anymore. That hardware store (New Life Bazaar) was in Kalookan near the municipal hall that time. I think it’s now bought by Jollibee from it’s owners because we were just renting the place.
Based on my observation, I think you don’t need to prioritize looking for suppliers who have the best bargain. Because even if you have stocks but people don’t want it, then it will just sit on your store for a long time specially if those were chemicals like paints and varnishes. Although electrical devices won’t spoil, they tend to become out of style like the veto switches. There is a saying “You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going”. Everything is trial and error. Would you believe if I tell you when my sister opened her tiny hardware store, she has more buyers that her competitor who have a larger inventory and 4 times bigger then her store? She also sells her items priced higher than that competitor. When I was visiting her store I sometimes crack a joke and tell her “ang mahal naman ng tinda mo. Di na ako bibili dito” he he he.
The reason? her location was good and she knows what people are looking for by listening to buyers whey they ask “meron kayo nito? (do you have this?). It is situated in a corner lot where there are many foot traffic. She doesn’t have too much inventory. She just goes to Divisoria to buy the electrical items and those basic construction hardware like PVC pipe and wood mouldings, I think she just used the yellow pages. But the only drawback is when the owner sold the place, because she was also renting it, and she can’t find a suitable place and other personal problems so she discontinued it.
Since you were just starting, what is important is to know what people are looking for and you have to have the items they were looking for. If not, even if you have lots of stocks they don’t need, then they will just find it somewhere else. You will only know what people are looking for once you opened your store.
Dear Manuel,
Thanks for the detailed reply, I learned a lot from it particularly on the knowhow on how to run the business properly. I also need to undergo training when it is available, I believe I still need to learn a lot about the business; and also I will try Divisoria for my basic items as what you suggested. For the other items I might still need to go around and search for suppliers. For the training I hope TLRC will publish its schedule soon so I can plan my time ahead. Thanks again.

Hi, Manuel:
I would like to attend training on Accounting and Record Keeping for Small Businesses. Was wondering if TRC has it scheduled for this month or for next… please advise.
Also, I couldn’t seem to find the training calendar / schedule on the TRC website. Could you please point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance,
Grich
@ Grich De Vera
You can find the training calendar of TRC in the right sidebar of their website. Kind of confusing but I’m sure you will find it. Not sure if they will have a seminar on Accounting and Record Keeping for Small Businesses next month. Just stick around or wait for my post on the last month of March 2010. Anyway I also found an accounting course on Entrepreneurs Accounting Academy but it cost a lot more, about 9k. Are u interested?
sir!!! hehehe sa last week of march pa ipapakita yung sched for april nuh??? di pwede earlier ?? heheheh thanks sir..i really find your blog very helpful and informative…grabeh!! go!!
Hi again, Manuel:
Thanks much for the info.
I think I’ll pass on the training offered by Entrepreneurs Accounting Academy. P9K is quite costly.
I was able to find the training calendar of TRC for this Apr at http://www.trc.dost.gov.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=30&Itemid=42 and they’re offering Accounting and Record Keeping for Small Businesses at P3K on Apr 5-6.
However, I will be attending the one offered by Nego-Skwela in Diliman, QC on Apr 10-11 , which is at P2.1K only. To those who are interested, you may contact Nego-Skwela at 433-0637, 497-4163, 426-7952, 924-5111, 0917-831-4477, and 0920-905-8940 or you may visit their website at negoskwela.blogspot.com.
Best regards,
Grich
isa lang masasabi ko sa mga gusto mag hardware… think of another business than hardware… dahil isa sa mga top 5 na pinaka mahirap ihandle na business na yan… hindi sa dinadown ko kayo.. pero by all means give it a try… pero masasabi ko lang kung hardware niyo ay maliit then maliit din kikitain niyo pero kung naging malakihan naman at syempre puro terms yan… once matakbuhan kayo ng client doon na magsisimula ang pag lubog ng hardware niyo..buti sana kung pumapatong tayo ng more than 50% ang problema kung bidding nasa 8 to 12 percent para manalo.. atsaka matagal mag develop ang isang maliit na hardware it would take you 10 to 15 years para maging tinatawag na complete hardware.. ang masama pa hahabulin kayo ng BIR especially.. kahit anong legal na gawin niyo sasabihin nila nandaya kaparin:P hihingian ka pinaka lowest as of now ay 60K every year yan tapos mga inspection pa.. patay ka dyan hehehe… and di mo magagawang legal yan ng 100% dahil 75% ng supplier puro D.R. lang meron wala silang Invoice talaga.. madugo talaga maging hardware ang daming ways para nakawan pa… this is the bad side of being a hardware… pasensya na sinabi ko ito pero.. heads up lang sa mga gusto… maraming business parin na mas ok sa hardware… mabilis makatanda ang hardware…. so do the math properly:)
