A junk shop and scrap business is a simple buy and sell business, which is less considered by many since the traded products are unclean and soiled. But in another view, it is a lucrative business that generates a lot of money both for garbage collectors and junk shop owners. This business is most relevant today considering that the government has promoted environmental awareness among its citizens, expressing the need for proper waste disposal and recycling of materials as a major factor in protecting the environment.

As one of the sectors involved in the country’s Solid Waste Management, junk shops are now being recognized for its large contribution in recycling activities and waste recovery.

Something catch my attention while I was surfing the internet last two weeks and it was a website that makes and sell hand made clay fashion accessories and souvenirs .  I contacted the owner and asked her to feature her business here so I immediately. The reason why I became interested is because I was impressed on her products which were unique and the designs were very creative. I think this is a valuable resource to those who are interested to undergo a training or those who were searching for what livelihood training are available offered by the government. The compiled training programs called 2010 HRD and Entrepreneurship Training Programs for MSMEs is a down loadable PDF file which you can open by Acrobat reader and this is made possible and compiled by the PHILIPPINE TRADE TRAINING CENTER/DTI under the direction of the TWG on Training Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee (IACC).

The compendium of 2010 HRD and Entrepreneurship Training Programs for MSMEs is a list of training programs offered by government training institutions in support of the National SME Development Agenda, a priority program of H.E. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. The Department of Trade and Industry is the lead government agency tasked to implement the SME Development Agenda and provide MSMEs with seamless access to government agencies. HRD and Entrepreneurship Training is one of five core elements of the Agenda that also includes financing, marketing, product development and technological intervention, and advocacy for an enabling environment.

While surfing the internet something came to my mind and thought about what a super rich guy could buy and what gadget or gizmo suited for his taste.  I search for the most expensive computer ever created and found  a 24 karat plated golden mac book pro in the Google image search. Sometimes vanity is not avoidable when someone is rich so I thought there is a niche market for that. So I’m not wrong after all because I saw a business website called Computer Choppers that caters anodizing gadgets like xbox, PSP,  laptop computers and mobile phone. Do you think that there will be a market niche here in the Philippines for people who wants their gadget turned into a 24 karat gold gizmo? I also doubt about the feasibility of this kind of business here because of the purchasing power of the masses. Only few rich individual can afford it and many still can’t buy an original iphone or a mac book so how much more will anodizing or gold plating it with 24 karat gold?
