Most businesses now have a blog and a facebook fan page. But since it is not easy to transfer your blog post to your facebook fanpage wall, you need to have an automatic application that will do that. It will be tedious if you will post the link of your new blog post to your Facebook fanpage. There is a twitter apps on facebook that can do that but the result is not satisfactory in my own opinion. The first thing I observe is the very short description on every facebook wall post and the bitly URL shortener. I don’t like to use URL shortener because the true URL of the blog is masked and will not pass link juice to your blog if you care about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). So why this is important to a business who have a blog or a website? simple, to bring traffic and visitors.
This is not only applicable to facebook fan page but also to your existing facebook account if you want to let some websites or blogs to post on your wall. What I wanted to tell you about is the facebook app called RSS Graffiti. This amazing apps is so far the best facebook app for posting automatically on your wall of your favorite blog or any website that has an RSS feed. To use the apps, just go to RSS Graffiti ( you have to login on your facebook account first) and authorize the apps by clicking the “click here to authorize RSS Graffiti” button. Then click “allow” button on the Request Permission page. Then click the “add feed” button and find on the basics tab the field “Feed URL” and put the url feed of your favorite blog (see snapshot image below). For example ( http://www.thefilipinoentrepreneur.com/feed ) use this feed to test it if you like this blog. Then click the “save” button to save the settings.

Since blogging became popular, many flocked into this hype and some bloggers post I’ve read said that even their pet dog has a blog. I guess what he is trying to say is how simple it is to set up a blog. I don’t disagree with that if only setting up a simple free blog like Blogger.Com and no complicated SEO strategies, social networking, installation of software and setting up a domain name and webhosting are involved. I can describe it to be as simple as making a Microsoft Word document. But if you want to be serious as a Problogger, you need more skills and knowledge than just setting up a blog which I think a business owner will have an option if he wants to be a Problogger or just a blogger for his brick and mortar or even an online business.
But why is it that business owners need to have a blog too? Blogging seems a perfect fit for a business owner and I can enumerate them as follows: Continue reading →

Have you read or heard of these words: Utube, Yotube, Yutube, Yu tube, Youtude videos? those words at first glance looks like a derivative of the word “Youtube”. If that is what you think, then maybe you are right because when you type these words on Google search, the first website on the search list is Youtube. I don’t want to make my own judgment that those words are misspellings because those words originate in different countries. Who knows, maybe those are correct spellings depending on the country where the search terms originate. Also, these keywords can be a good opportunity for keyword hijacking if you want your site to have many visitors because those keywords have a lot of traffic.
But just beware that keyword hijacking is not a good practice if your intention is just to have all kinds of traffic under the sun but not suited to your site’s theme or niche. It might do you more harm than good. For example, if you have a website about the latest gadgets and most the visitors that came to your site were looking for the latest celebrity gossips, then I think those visitors will be turned off and never visit your site again. Also, you are lucky if the visitor will read even the first paragraph of your post and not leave is a split second.

When I saw the movie Love Guru, the idea came up to me the similarity between a blogger and a guru. Why The Love Guru? if you have a chance to watch it, it’s a comedy movie and the actor who portrayed role of Guru Pitka was Mike Myers. There are many funny scenes although most of it are kinda corny. One of those scenes is when Guru Pitka was conducting a sort of seminar. He differentiate the word “NOWHERE” to “NOW” “HERE” and the attendees were amazed on that moment. Kinda funny because I never thought there was a big difference between the two words. Then he explains and interpret an abbreviation of the word BIBLE, which is Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. Also there is a book I saw that looks like authored by him with the title “Does It Hurt When You Do That? Don’t Do That”. Also, on that movie Guru Pitka was trying to fix a broken marriage but he himself haven’t experienced marriage (or maybe sex?) because he was wearing a chastity belt.
Then how is Guru Pitka similar to a blogger? most of the blogger which hoards a lot of visitors and subscribers are those guru type that writes “how to’s” or the “ten things a blogger should avoid” posts. But come to think of it, why should I believe a write up from a blogger even if he or she is famous? Do I have a mental telephathy that I will know that the blogger is telling the truth? or do I have a time machine that I will know the result when I follow his instructions and I’ll be as successful as he claims to be? So why sometimes when we read a post we immediately gave our trust and assume that we will become successful? Simple. Because those bloggers writes good, if not, excellent thought provoking posts. It’s as simple as that. We don’t have an idea if it’s true or effective, doesn’t it?

The latest WordPress update have many bugs fixed and tighten securities on administration pages. Now many blogger who have their blogs setup using WordPress will be more confident and secure specially on using plugins where the source is not really known to be credible. But lately there was a problem on some plugins we are using that have no latest update. Specially the Adsense Deluxe WordPress plugin where the author have not made an update since 2006. Maybe the guy lost interest on this precious plugin. I can’t think of a good reason rather than having lack of user support (donation) because the plugin is free, I think there will be no initiative for users to pay it. So I think it will take a longer time or maybe no update at all for those who wants to use it.
But for those bloggers out there who are still using this plugin, I know the value of this because not only can you use it on Adsense, you also use this on any advertising network for displaying ads on your blogs. After I updated my wordpress to version 2.8.1, I have encountered a bug on this plugin. What happened is I can’t access the Adsense deluxe administration page and only saw a blank page with this message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page” so I can’t edit nor see what’s happening in there. I thought someone already hacked my administration page and fear that some malicious code had been running again so I made some research. Thanks to this site that I discovered that you only need to replace a variable called hook in PHP. Many plugin used admin_init instead of admin_menu inside the plugin code. In the case of adsense deluxe, the hook used is admin_head that should be replaced by admin_menu. So to make it work, first thing to do is disable the adsense deluxe plugin. Maybe I need no explanation on this part if you are a WordPress user. Then open up your FTP program and go to the plugins directory and transfer the file adsense-deluxe.php from the subdiretory adsense-deluxe_wp_plugin_v0.8 to the plugins directory. Continue reading →

I wanted to share a very nice article I read from John Chow’s ebook “Make Money Online”. Although the ebook is primarily for people interested on making money online by blogging, it also has a topic of personal development. What I’m referring to is the difference between a loser and a successful person. It is ironic that those who are afraid to fail are losers and not winners. I always thought that winners are people who never fail but on the contrary winners or successful people are those who have experience series of failures before they ever become successful. Maybe there are some who have experienced few failures and I wonder if there are those who have never experience failure, I guess they have magic. So why some people are losers? not because those people always fail, they are those who never tried to act on their dreams because they are afraid to fail.
One good example is those people who are sick and tired on their jobs and dream of having a business someday. Someday will never come unless we act on that dream. There is a big difference between a dream and a goal. A dream is only a dream without action. A goal is a dream with action. The reason why we always wish to do something and never act is because we are afraid to experience failure. Even on a game of chance like lotto, you need to buy a ticket in order to win. We cannot just wish that “someday I wish I win the lotto” but we don’t buy tickets.
