Actually I’m not an expert in blogging and learned it by visiting other blogs who gives tips and advice and how to improve your blog. There are other experts in the field and there are others who just say things about blogging and SEO but I doubt if their advice really works. Every website owners and bloggers in particular have their own trade secrets and I doubt if they are going to reveal it all.

Upgraded My Blog to Wordpres 2.7

Just yesterday I upgraded this blog to WordPress 2.7. I was hesitant at first because I was too busy and thought that it is not urgent. Anyway I proceeded on upgrading to the latest version. After it was installed, my first impression when I logged into the admin area is there are many changes that took place. One noticeable change is that the menu on top of the WordPress admin interface was transferred to the left side bar. There are also changes on the dashboard.

I’m glad that all the plugins I installed are compatible. Even the spot milk plugin worked fine so that the interface that I use to like will be retained.

The only disadvantage is that the editor interface (the area where you write your post) seems sluggish. I can’t write fast enough. Hope they will fix the problem on their next release. How about you? are you experiencing the same sluggish behavior of the editor when creating your post?

Blogging and Your Ego

Blogging has become a hype and not only can yo make a hobby out of it, it can also be your source of livelihood. Just last year, GMA have shown in the Mel and Joey program featuring those bloggers who were earning 5 to 6 figure income (in pesos) but the show have given people presumption that its easy to blog and Joey de Leon have mention that it is a good “Racket” or a sideline. But its far from the truth. Its easy if you already became famous after many years of hard work plus the money and time you spent. ( I have a post about it earlier, you can see it here )

How To Make Your Blog or Website WAP Compliant

WAP cellphoneThinking of making your website or blog WAP compliant? It looks like it is easier said than done. Imagine, how will you fit the PC monitor screen to a cell phone screen? Those tiny LCD cellphone screen can’t possibly fit in it, that is, if you will put everything in it. If you are using your cell phone to browse non WAP blogs and websites, you can still view the whole page but you have to zoom-in and zoom-out in order for you to read the contents. It’s not possible to load the whole page in a cell phone’s browser because the letters are too tiny and will not show properly. A WAP compliant or mobile website have slim lined(eliminated the non necessary contents) the webpage and just put the important contents in a small mobile website.

If you own a website (a non blog site) with thousands of pages, for example: static html pages, it will take a long time for you to convert all those pages. But if you own a hosted blog, then lucky for you because it will only take you a few minutes just installing a plug-in. This will only work in a hosted WordPress blog. I don’t know if the free wordpress blog can use plugins because I haven’t tried it. If you like to make your blog WAP compliant, you can download the plugin here. The plugin is created by Alex King and if you are willing to donate, it’s better so we can help our fellow entrepreneur create more wonderful plugins.

Important Trait of a Successful Blogger: Be Yourself

masksThere is one important ingredient of a successful blogger and that is a trait of being “Yourself”. In my observation, famous bloggers like Darren Rowse (Problogger), Shoemoney, John Chow and Steve Pavlina all have this trait in common which makes them very successful. Their writing styles have a personal touch on the audience and it’s like they are casually conversing with an individual that is why visitors are quickly attracted to them. So what does it really mean? Those two words look very simple but for me it’s hard to comprehend and to do.

Like for example, when I was still employed, I remember the day when I was having a conversation with my co-worker/friend in our department, he is telling me out loud to “Be Yourself!” No, he is not angry with me or anyone. He was just joking and teasing our jerk boss. I know the message is not for me but to our idiot boss because he is a great pretender, so to speak. He always acts that he is the smartest person in this office and always showing off to the management that he can do everything even though all of us know how incompetent he is. But little that I know that I’m also not being myself and pointing the finger to the other person. Why? Because the mere fact that I’m employed and working for somebody else means I’m not myself anymore. I’m doing a job that someone is telling me to do and acting on a position that was given to me.
