I just made another face lift for this blogs logo because the older one seems unappropriate. When I was just starting this blog I was thinking if I will use a local icon like a Philippine jeepney. It might look good and what I have in mind is since jeepney drivers is one of a good example of a Filipino entrepreneuer, a jeepney was the best idea. But putting it in a blog, well I might look silly so I thought of another one and found a graphic that might blend well on the niche of entrepreneurship. Just a clipart of a man with an attache case on a jumping pose. Then again after a year I changed the logo with a graphic representation of a man with salakot (a native hat used by Filipino farmers) with a laptop covered with a sawali (woven split bamboo mat) to symbolize a typical Juan dela Cruz being high tech despite of the traditional stuffs like those. (See the logo below)
But despite how hard I made the logo (I used Autocad to make that laptop), I did not bother to think that text or wordings are the most important. The graphics might catch too much attention and the blog reader might forget about the brand name. Of course this blog has a name but the logo and the name should be one. So now I decided to make another change and below is the outcome:

I was searching of a good advertising medium that is not very expensive and I read in a magazine about a clothes hanger that are used to advertise companies and businesses. I’m not sure if the company producing such clothes hanger is the pioneer and maybe someone have already thought about it. The company was Hanger Network founded by JD Schulman in 2003. The hanger was made entirely from recycled, heavy duty coated paperboard (of course the hook was recycled plastic for durability).
The idea is those hangers are given free to dry cleaners and advertisers shoulders the cost which in turn have their company logos on those hangers. Since seldom will people reject freebies, then it isn’t hard to distribute those hangers. This is a very good idea from an American that we Filipinos can duplicate if we are planning to have other advertising medium we want for our campaign. Since those hangers are for dry cleaners only because it is made from recycled paper, how about making a water proof clothes hanger too? items like soda can could be a good material.

After watching the Youtube video on how those prankster contaminated the food being served, it reminded me again of the food our family eats in fast food chains. How safe they are really? how can you be sure if those in the kitchen are not putting anything on the hamburgers or fried chicken you ordered? Worst is if there is a psychopath in the kitchen. This is very alarming if you have a food business and you hired a psychologically unfit person. Yeah, you really need to screen your employees. And not only proper screening, but also proper motivation for your employees. If you treat them right, then most probably you won’t encounter much problem.
Watching the video of those two Domino’s Pizza employees makes me feel disgusted. One employee is picking his nose with a cheese strip then putting it over the pizza dough. I hope there is no booger on it. I’m not interested eating a pizza with booger as toppings. It really destroys a company brand name doing those things. I do hope Jollibee, Chowking and Greenwich Pizza employees won’t follow their example just to be a Youtube sensation.

Slogans are, I think, is what makes a Brand more memorable and stays on the consumers mind for quite a while. But creating a slogan is not for the sake of just creating an advertising slogan. It have to be simple and memorable. Relevant to the target and unique to the brand. It should also be a consumer language. It is also said by advertising experts and even theorize that slogans are more important than visual executions because what we hear is what we remember most based on psychological studies. Visual executions change to provide freshness to a campaign, but great taglines endure.
I have used one myself. On this blog you will see the slogan “Work Smarter, Not Harder” although this slogan have been used many times but it seem that no popular brand name have ever used it. Another blog I saw is from Matt Mullenweg with a slogan “Unlucky in Cards”. The slogan sounds mysterious but when I watched a video from Wordcamp Philippines, someone asked why is it so. Matt said, in the U.S., there was a saying “Lucky in Cards, Unlucky in Love” so maybe he made a unique slogan for it. Making it vice-versa.
