Some of the business ideas below are high-tech, while others simply requires a set of skills and not much else. We assure you though, that the ideas are for real, and if they are not yet being pursued in the Philippines, other entrepreneurs are already profiting from them elsewhere in the world. In any case, you can use these ideas simply as possible springboards for entrepreneurial action. With your innate creativity and persistence, you just might be able to think up or bump into the next big business idea yourself.
1. Action figures for adults – Overactive imaginations are not the sole domain of children; indeed, many a mature man and woman see themselves as everyday heroes and heroines. Since Jollibee bought 70% of Mang Inasal from the owner Edgar “Injap” Sia II, I guess no one knows the real reason why Mr. Sia decided to sold part of Mang Inasal to Mr. Caktiong, the owner of Jollibee. But the fact that Mr. Sia didn’t sold the entire company and kept 30% of it, we can conclude that the owner still wants to retain the company. My conclusion is, in business, there are many competitors and the big boys always wins. Since Jollibee and Mang Inasal has almost the same “Star” product, and that is cooked chicken, although the method of cooking is not close to each other, they are direct competitors. One is fried while the other one is grilled but they are both serving the fast food industry.
So in order for Mang Inasal to boost it’s potential, instead of competing directly with the giant, he should join them. There is a saying, if you can’t beat them, join them. And the same thing with Jollibee, since Mang Inasal is a threat, even though it is just a fledgling little chick, Jollibee became interested in buying the company. Most businesses do that to demolish the competition whether they will buy their competitor to integrate to their existing business or just to make them disappear into oblivion.

I remember the good old days when internet was still on it’s infancy, specifically here in the Philippines. Back in 1995, internet connection is very rare and only companies and those who belong to the upper class of the society, I mean those who can really afford to have an internet connection can surf the internet. Even mobile phones are rare and the only brand I knew back then is the Motorola brand cellular phone, the size of a brick. I was lucky I was able to experience my first internet surfing when I was employed in a multinational company. Broadband DSL connection don’t exist yet and you have to be patient using a dial-up connection. Website are very simple those days and I became interested in making websites and making money online.

Have you heard the saying “No Pain, No Gain”? I think if you haven’t heard of that, maybe you are living under a rock for many years now (He he he just kidding, no offense meant). But seriously, many of us are dreaming to become rich or dreaming of having a comfortable life but we are not doing anything about it to accomplish that dream. But really, the only way we could become comfortable is by being uncomfortable. One good example are the sacrifices done by many OFWs. They endure loneliness and hardships on a foreign land just to secure the future of their love ones. Many left their families in the Philippines just to work abroad and didn’t have a chance to see their children grow. That is one good example of being uncomfortable in order to provide comfort to their love ones and their future.
And with regards to business, specially entrepreneurs, being uncomfortable seems synonymous to the word entrepreneur or businessman. The fact is, I thought that if I came from an a business minded parents, it will be easy for me to become a businessman someday. I took life a little easy until I had a chance to run an online business, actually it’s more of a being self-employed. And also, on running a food cart business, I thought it will not be as hard as I thought it would be. But I realized that when you are there, everything is trial and error and you will never know what really works. You have to experiment on everything you do and you will experience many failures. I just remembered my father, when he was running his own business. He was very thrifty and always late at work. He gave us a comfortable life while he himself is being uncomfortable. I sometimes thought he is enjoying it because he can live a lot better if he will spend his hard earned money on some luxuries. I remember he always eats gruel and fish and he seldom buy new clothes. But us his children, yes we are living a lot better and can buy things we want.

I once read a saying from Mike Litman “If you don’t know how to sell, you will live on pay check to pay check hell”. I think that is a strong sentence he made regarding on how we make our living. Not everyone has the ability, talent or skill of being a businessman or not every one likes selling. He also said, it is the secret of millionaires.
It is very obvious that no employee will get rich because they are all in the mercy of their employers. So why I say that? Even the government can’t force employers to increase the laborers wages according to their wishes and the final say is always on the employers. When a worker is on his retirement age, he has to leave the company whatever great things he have done to his employers or the business itself. And the employer will just hire another younger employee to replace him. That is really unfair, but who says that life is fair? and those things will happen if you don’t know how to sell.

I think the idea of “looking for success” is one of the many things that many people have in their minds right now. If you find this post in Google or Yahoo, chances are, you are also looking for topics on how to succeed. Be it financially or whatever things you have in mind. But again, let me ask the question, is it hard to find it? was it inside us or will we find it on other people? Let me share you the quote I found accidentally just browsing the internet:
Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it — David Henry Thoreau
