Guide in Producing Baby Corn

June 18th, 2008 Lito

baby cornI think everyone knows this vegetable. This is commonly added to a dish called chop suey where it is mixed with vegetables like cauliflower, chinese cabbage, cabbage, bell pepper, sayote, carrots and added with squid and some chicken meat or pork.I guess there is a good income opportunity in producing baby corn because I don’t see it often in the wet market or in a supermarket so there is a possibility that producers were seldom also. So if you want to know something about producing baby corn, below is a guide I found in Bureau of Plant Industry website.

Young cob corn (Zea mays L.), the newly developed corn, has been used by Chinese as vegetable for generations and this practice has spread to other Asian countries. It is used as ingredient in most food preparations. It has nutritive value similar to that of non-legume vegetable such as cauliflower, tomato, cucumber and cabbage (Yodpetch and Bautista, 1983). This vegetable has a great potential for cooking purposes and for processing as a canned product. Canned cob corn export to Thailand, Japan and Europe is increasing and has a good future.

How to Make Soy Sauce

May 4th, 2008 Lito

soy sauceSoy sauce is one of the most popular seasonings and it is well adapted here in our country. it is one of the world’s oldest condiments and has been used in China for more than 2,500 years. It is made from fermenting a mixture of mashed soybeans, salt, and enzymes. It is also made artificially through a chemical process known as acid hydrolysis.

Although this product is widespread, seen in almost any supermarket, sari sari store or wet market making your own soy sauce at home can also be a sideline income specially if you can make a better one. But for starters, you can start a simple procedure like the one I got below before you can experiment on your own. Just remember, even a simple product like these and having so many competition can be overcome by creativity. Again remember the saying ” A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.

Having Problems With Your DSL?

April 14th, 2008 Lito

I guess this post is an off topic but I think this will somehow help those who bang their heads to the wall solving the ADSL problem connection. I don’t know if I have to mention the company where we were subscribed with ( I used the term we because the phone line was named to my sister-in-law but I’m the one paying the monthly bills). Before, I mean when I don’t have a DSL connection, I’m using the internet by dial-up. But it seems that using dial up slows down my work so I decided to upgrade it to their 990 plan where the payment was a flat monthly rate regardless how long you use the internet or the phone. That was a real bargain and I’m impress with their service because it only took a few weeks before the line was upgraded. Customer service is also very responsive and polite.

But since it was my first time using DSL I thought there was a problem on our phone line installation because the speed is just a little faster then a dial-up (when I measure it on a broadband meter, it was only 66kbps) and patiently waited for the technical support to solve the problem after calling them many times regarding the problem. Since I’m not contented, what I did is I made my own troubleshooting by replacing the telephone wires inside our house and sometimes removing the phone to see if the speed will improve but still the problem remains. So again I just contented myself on that speed just for the sake of not wasting my time calling the technical support. Just last month (March), I was surprised because the my DSL speed improved and when I measure it, the speed was 200+ kbps and I thought the problem was solved. But I noticed the downtime is becoming more frequent and It took about 15 minutes for my modem to connect to the DHCP server. Sometimes the connection was good and can connect for 4 to 6 hours strait but often if disconnects and having intermittent connection.

Robots Have a Greed in Money Too

January 13th, 2008 Lito

bumblebee transformersSorry to disappoint you folks but this is just a home made movie I saw on Yahoo Video. Not a big deal. Looks like a amateur production playing toy transformers. The title looks intriguing when you happen to visit the page containing the video. Anyway it’s good to know that only human being’s have the capacity of being greedy for money and that does not include robots. Since money is really the main motivator of businessman and entrepreneurs, maybe we should focus more on value that we can share to humanity.

One thing, I also noticed on the video the common misconception about money. The end message says “Money is the root of all evil”. Actually it is not. Money is not evil. It helps us and provides our needs. Even churches need money and ask for donations to propagate the gospel. So the correct sentence should be “The Love of money is the Root of All Evil”. It is clearly written in the Bible.

December 29th, 2007 Lito

The reason is that I found out that it was my lucky color revealed to me by Chinese astrology. I think there is nothing wrong when you follow these kind belief since we know that Chinese civilization has been on earth for thousands of years. And it is also a fact that many affluent and rich business men here in our country belongs to the Chinese minorities.

Anyway I would also like to share with you the website about Chinese astrology where you can determine your lucky color, lucky element and lucky direction or place. To find your lucky element, follow this link: Find your lucky element then put your birthday information, gender and your nickname. I think there is no need to put the time of birth since not all of us know that detail. Then you will see your birth chart. Just read what you will find on the page and you will also see the five elements generated. The element with the smallest number is your lucky element. You will find on the bottom of the page two links: “Click here to find The Rise and Fall Chart of Your Life” and “Click here to read the your Lucky Element Guide to improve your luck.”

The Customer is Always Right

October 13th, 2007 Lito

eco parkThe saying “The Customer is Always Right” is an old saying. This is with regards on how to treat your customer. Yes it’s true that sometimes customers make an unreasonable demand and we can’t say that they are right. Indeed they are not always right all the time. Maybe this just points out how important a customer is because without customers, there are no businesses.

I wanted to share something that happened yesterday when my wife and I accompanied our daughter and my wife’s nephew on a field trip. We are on the meeting place waiting for our tourist bus for an hour. All of the buses are already there except ours. We were very patient and the representative of the bus company keep saying to us that the bus will be arriving soon. Then at last, our bus came and we hurriedly went to the seats. But we noticed that the bus have a problem on air conditioning. The air inside is hot and we complained about the problem and demanded to replace that bus.
