2. Mindoro Butterfly Kingdom – the segment featured a butterfly breeding farm in Calapan Mindoro where they breed and produce butterfly for commercial purposes. One of the objective there is to help the Mangyan natives in Mindoro to earn a living by catching one of the rare species. One of the prize species that they are proud of is the rare Papilio Hermili which can only be found in Mindoro. The price of it is from $70 – $200 for female and $50 – $70 for male. They also have various species in their farm and they are now exporting it to other countries.

Printing photos using edible ink on chocolates made into many sorts of items like picture frames, calling cards, Chocolate CD, Chocolate coins. The owner is Chistine Cox. She said that she got the idea by researching the internet and her investment reached php500,00 and because of the demand she is positive that she will get her investment back very soon. The price range of her products is from php45.00 to php2,290.00.

2. Malou and Armel Lomi Haus – the place is in San Juan, Batangas noted for their beautiful beaches , “lambanog” a wine made from coconut sap and delicious native delicacies. The one featured is the lomi haus that became successful because of it’s unique flavor.

1. Jerps Parol Maker – KSNS featured a maker of beautiful Christmas lanterns. The business is lucrative specially on Christmas season because those lanterns became a symbol of Christmas to Filipinos. There are many varieties of lanterns or ‘parol’ from plastics, bamboos and capiz shells. The most eye catching of them all are those made with beautifully crafted capiz shells with assorted colored lightings. Like other successful entrepreneurs who were in the right place at the right time, it started when Aling Emily’s husband got a bamboo star lantern frame which he picked up from the street. He decided to make a few and sell it. Since then they continue making parols and now a big seller of different kinds of parol or lanterns.

2. Bel Mondo Italia Corp. ( Maker of Novellino Wines ) – A proudly pinoy maker of wines from grape juice like red wine and white wine. Red wine have health beneficial properties of preventing heart disease because it acts a scavenger in the blood that lowers cholesterols, thins the blood to prevent hypertension and relaxes the blood vessels. There are studies regarding the French who eats a lot of fatty foods and drinks a lot of red wine but have the lowest incidence of heart disease. According to the owner/founder Mr. Vicente Quimbo the major difference from the rest of the red and white wines is the distinctive sweet taste because Filipinos have sweet tooth. It also now exported to other countries like Italy, Australia and California USA.

1. Nanding’s Flower Shop – Aling Urbana started with a capital of 3,000 pesos and now they are making as much as 180,000 per week on occasions such as All Saint’s Day and Valentines day. They are cebuanos which we know are very enterprising. What is the secret to her success? well she only told the viewers to be patient and know how to manage people.

2. Sweet Factory – the business originated in the UK and became a hit in the US. The one featured in swak na swak is the only franchise here in the Philippines started in 2004 and have the master franchise. According to the General Manager, Bernadette Toribio the return of investment is very fast even though the capital is large according to her. For sweet success according to her, you have to have good product, know how to take care of your people and listen to your customers.

1. Kids Playtime – a toy store in tutuban center that specializes in Halloween toys, decors, masks and other things.

2. Perlie Bersamin candle making making business – they started their business in year 2000. Because the materials are readily available in Divisoria, they have thought of making a one stop shop in candle making. They also offer training on candle making for 800 pesos. The segment also showed the televiewers how to make the candles with the materials but there is no exact measurement.

3. CARICA Herbal Products – the segment featured the franchising system of Carica Herbal Products.

Kabuhayang Swak na Swak – October 21, 2007


Below are the list of businesses and entrepreneurs featured today in Kabuhayang Swak na Swak:

1. Chunky Boy’s Drunken Barbecue – the creative mind of the owner of this barbecue bar and grill which made the nilasing na barbecue or drunken barbecue a hit. The owners are Mike and Lyra Hilario. The marinade is simply made of black pepper, mixed spices, brown sugar, garlic, special vinegar, soy sauce, alcohol (wine, I guess), salt and of course the pork. They also mentioned about the secret ingredients which I think is up to us experiment. Their bar and grill have an initial investment of 1.5 million and they have managed to get their investment in one year. Their first business is corporate give away and after they saved enough they started their dream business which is the bar and grill.

2. JOHN-NETTE’S Banana Chips – The owner, Johnny Santos started his business way back in 1978 in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro as a banana trader. He supplies bananas to banana chips makers. Then he got an idea to make his own banana chips with the help of his wife and mother in law. The business became a hit up now they are producing banana chips.

New Time Slot For Kabuhayang Swak Na Swak

They have changed the time slot from weekdays to Saturdays and Sundays so many budding entrepreneurs or those who are interestested in entrepreneurship can watch the program. The new time slot is 7:00 AM on Saturdays and 8:00 AM on Sandays.( Please take note that this blog is not connected with Kabuhayang Swak na Swak.
